THIS SURFACE COATING IS A COST-EFFICIENT PROCESS TO CREATE SURFACES WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS

Laser cladding is a proven technology for creating high-quality coatings and structures from metallic materials. The process uses fine metal powders that can be transported by a carrier gas in a precision dosage.

Through special nozzles, this powder/gas mixture is directed onto the surface of a component. A high-energy laser beam is likewise targeted at the same location, causing the metal powder to melt.

The resulting weld pool can now be guided over the component surface and solidifies almost instantaneously. Metal layers or entire three-dimensional structures can thus be created strip by strip.

Since Argon is used as the carrier gas and additional inert gas shields the weld pool, no oxygen can affect the process.
